Students are introduced to the game of Chess
Goals:
+ Help students learn and practice thinking before acting and speaking
+ Help students learn how to prioritize options before committing to actions
Students read individually and in groups and keep journals
Goals:
+ Reinforce reading skills learned during the school day
+ Reinforce basketball vocabulary learned in program
+ Promote reading for enjoyment
+ Help students become better readers
+ Offer students opportunity to participate in a community of readers
+ Help student see that reading can be fun
+ Reinforce basketball, tennis, dance, and bike riding vocabulary learned during program
Students are introduced to health eating practices
Goals:
+ Provide students with the knowledge to assist them in improving eating patterns
+ Provide overweight and obese students with the knowledge to reduce weight
+ Provide students with opportunity to try healthy food alternatives
+ Students will have at least one presentation from a law enforcement official and a group discussion on the presentation(s)
+ Students will have a group discussion on at least one video related to bullying
+ Students will have a least two small group breakout session discussions on bullies, victims, bystanders, and bullying
Goals:
+ Help school provide a safe, supportive and healthy learning environment
+ Help school reduce the number of bullies at the school
+ Help school in preventing new bullies
+ Enhance peer relations among students
+ Students are introduced to the game of organized basketball
+ Students are introduced to the fundamentals associated with passing, dribbling, pivoting and the basic principles of individual and team offense and defense
There are at least four classroom sessions on teamwork and sportsmanship
Goals:
+ To provide, a fun experience for every player regardless of skill level
+ To promote the concept of team unity, companionship, instruction and learning experiences to the best of the coaches’ ability
+ Improve each participant’s basketball IQ
+ Provide an environment for students to develop a passion for the game
+ Optimize skill levels of participants
+ Promote physical fitness
Students are introduced to the game of tennis. There are at least four classroom sessions on teamwork and sportsmanship
Goals:
+ To provide, a fun experience for every player regardless of skill level

Participants are introduced to Dance as a life-long fun exercise option
Dancing Goals:
+ To help participants develop and improve memory skills
+ Develop ability to find and keeping beat and time
+ Develop poise
+ Develop body coordination
+ Build self confidence
Students will actively participate in a book and bike riding club. There are at least four classroom sessions on teamwork and sportsmanship
Goals:
+ To provide, a fun experience for every club member regardless of reading level
+ Promote reading as fun
+ Help foster a love for reading
+ Sharpen communication skills
+ Help to overcome shyness
+ Promote establishing dedicated reading times for youth
